Access to Care: Tools for Hospital Emergency Departments and MBHP Network Providers

Emergency Services Alert and Attachments
The Emergency Services Alert describes the process for individuals in Emergency Departments who present in need of psychiatric care. Attachments include Medical Clearance and Toxic Screen Guidelines, and contacts at Inpatient, Emergency Service Programs (ESP), Emergency Departments, and MCOs. MBHP Precertification forms are also attached.

ED Quick Reference Guide
The ED Quick Reference Guide describes the behavioral health emergency services evaluation for MBHP Members in Emergency Departments. This is a one-page description which may be posted in EDs with contact information specific to the community.

DYS Access to Care Alert and Attachments
The DYS alert and attachments outline the process for ESP evaluations and Inpatient Psychiatric Referrals for DYS involved MBHP Members.

Access to Care Best Practice Urgent Outpatient Provider Presentation

Admissions Best Practices Protocols
The Access to Care Best Practices for Psychiatric Admissions Protocol was developed with input from the Access to Care Workgroup and focus groups, consisting of representatives from psychiatric admissions departments across the Commonwealth.

Standardized Clinical Presentation
The Standardized Clinical Presentation is a list of data elements developed by inpatient psychiatric units and Emergency Service Programs through the Access to Care Workgroup to identify what needs to be communicated either verbally or in writing when making a referral for inpatient care. This list includes information that may not be relevant for all clients.

This Directory contains updated contact information for Emergency Service Programs including towns served.
